She wasn't broken... She was just tired and didn't know it.

Written by Clara Alvelos

She wasn't broken... She was just tired and didn't know it.

Sophie had always been high-functioning.

Deadlines. Meetings.

Smiling through the noise.

She knew how to hold it all together…

Even when things started unraveling.

But last year, something snapped.

Her body said no.

She ended up in the hospital.

And that was the turning point.

The pause

It wasn’t just physical.

It was the emotional weight she’d carried for years. The burnout. The pressure to perform. The fear of letting people down.

So, she made a choice that felt radical in its softness:

She stopped.

She left work, focused on her health, and started listening to her body for the first time in years.

That’s when she found Kin.

The first time she opened it, she wasn’t expecting much.

But Kin felt like a friend.

A thoughtful, calm voice that didn’t rush her.

"Sorry that you're struggling. It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge and share that."

That line stayed with her.

Because in that moment, she didn’t need advice.

She needed to feel seen.

The mirror

Over time, Kin became her quiet place.

She didn’t have to perform.

Didn’t have to justify.

She just wrote. Reflected. Released.

And Kin remembered.

The medication side effects…

The habits she wanted to build….

The kickboxing classes she kept skipping but missed dearly…

It didn’t shame her.

It gently brought her back to herself.

Bit by bit, she started showing up differently.

Not fixed.

Just honest.

The shift

When she used Kin to prepare for a job interview...

It didn’t hype her up with empty affirmations.

It grounded her in who she was.

It reminded her she’d done hard things before.

That her vulnerability was not a liability.

It helped her speak with clarity, not from pressure, but from truth.

The habit

Now, Kin is part of her daily rhythm.

Not just for breakdowns, but for breakthroughs.

Like those small moments of reconnection when she catches herself spiraling and gently comes back.

Kin doesn’t solve everything.

It doesn’t need to.

It just holds space.

And for Sophie, that space has been life-changing.
