The Kinside Scoop đ #17

Hey folks đ
Weâve been quiet with emails for 2026 so far. As usual, thatâs because weâve been busy fixing and improving Kin.
But now, itâs time we let you into what weâve been working on.
Whatâs new with Kinđ

The Post Everyoneâs Talking About đ»
This week, AI CEO Matt Shumer published an essay that broke the internet: âSomething Big Is Happening.â
70+ million views. Trending everywhere (including our own posts here and here). And for good reason.
Shumer compares this moment to February 2020 - right before COVID changed everything. His message: AI disruption isnât coming. Itâs already here. And most people arenât ready.
He predicts 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs could be eliminated within 1-5 years. He talks about watching AI do his own job better than he can. About the need to adapt - fast.
But hereâs what the essay doesnât fully address: the mental cost.
When your career path suddenly feels uncertain, when the skills youâve spent years building feel at risk, when âjust adaptâ sounds simple but feels impossible⊠itâs not just a professional challenge. Itâs an emotional one.
Thatâs exactly why we built Kin.
Not to replace your thinking. To support it. To help you find clarity when everything feels uncertain. To be the steady presence that helps you figure out who you want to be - even when the old roadmap is gone.
If you havenât read the essay yet: Something Big Is Happening.
And if youâre feeling the weight of it? Thatâs what Kin is for.
Insights are here đ

Youâve got Insights.
These are daily generated personalised insights across a range of themes, including things like Goals, Connections, Values, and Energy.
Thereâs even an Easter egg âThrowbackâ theme in there too, to bring an occasional smile to the face.
Weâve been asked a lot to make Kin better at uncovering patterns in your behaviour and this is our starting point.
We know Kinâs power lies in its ability to notice not just things youâre already aware of, and your behaviour around that, but even more so the patterns that youâve yet to uncover.
We want your feedback. All of it. Screenshot in-app, post on our Discord server, and email us.. We see it all!
Importing your memory, finally đ

Many of you have been wondering how to get started faster with Kin - especially when coming from other AI systems.
Last month, we released a step-by-step guide to import your memory from Claude and ChatGPT into Kin to help.
That guide has you generate a super-prompt from your competitorâs memory thatâll feed Kin everything it needs, so you can skip the âgetitng-to-know-youâ phase.
Not just what your chats have been about - but five in-depth descriptions of you and your habits thatâll supercharge how Kin begins to understand you.
Using Kin your way (the move to credits) đȘ
When it comes to the hard, feature-level usage limits, weâve heard you:
âI donât use voice. Why am I paying for voice?â
Fair point.
We began moving toward replacing hard text and voice limits with credit-based system earlier this month, so you can use Kin however works for you.
All voice? All text?
Heavy one week? Light the next?
All your call. Credits can be used for either text or voice services, at your discretion.
Existing paid subscribers will remain on their existing subscription tiers with no need to change anything. Youâll start receiving credits straight away.
As a final top tip - muting on voice chat without hanging up wonât use credits. Voice will only use credits when listening to you, or responding to you.
Health integrations, now landing đ„
Weâve opened testing for Apple Health integration.
If you flagged interest a few weeks back, check your Discord DMs - weâll be getting you hands-on very soon.
Internally, itâs looking good. With wearables like Whoop and calendars connected, Pulse is already good at spotting patterns and giving a subtle heads-up before things pile up - and how to deal with them when they do.
This rollout is intentional and careful, which is why itâs not instant. Weâre paying close attention to how health data feels inside Kin, not just how it connects.
Android is very close too. We started with Apple simply because it was the easier place to begin.
If youâre curious and comfortable testing, this is the moment - reach out to us on our Discord server.
A clearer look at how Kin thinks đ€
We also added an optional reasoning model.
This doesnât expose raw internal thinking - but it does let you peek behind the curtain by providing a kind of âtrain of thought.â
Youâll be able to see that Kin is reasoning, what tools itâs using, and how itâs approaching an answer.
Less mystery, more trust.
And yes, better answers too.
This will be optional at the Advisor level, since reasoning generally uses more credits than shorter replies.
Changing Discussion Times â°
Following a poll on our official Discord, the live sessions we run there have changed their timings to better reflect our growing community.
If youâve not seen our Discord yet, itâs the best place to talk to the Kin development team (as well as other users) about anything AI. Join for free by heading here.
We have dedicated channels for Kinâs tech, networking users, sharing support tips, and for hanging out.
The three casual calls we hold now run as follows - and weâd love for you to join them:
- Monday Calls - 12pm GMT/BST
- Wednesday Calls - 7pm GMT/BST
- Friday Calls - 7pm GMT/BST
Weâve also removed theming from these calls, meaning you can discuss whatever you want at any call. Got a question? Let us know. Want to talk about how others use Kin? Do it! Just looking for a friendly chat? Weâll be there.
For something more formal, the KIN team can be reached at [email protected] for anything, from feedback on the app to a bit of tech talk (though [email protected] is better placed to help with any issues).
You can also share your feedback in-app. Just screenshot to trigger the feedback form.
We need you! đŠžââïž
For those of you who have been asking to help Kin, we have something for you. Something weâre always trying to figure out is product reach - Kin being a privacy-first system means virality isnât the easiest thing for us to create.
So, weâre looking for brand ambassadors to help us share the word of Kin as far and wide as possible. No amount of help is too small, and no potential reach is too large.
If youâre interested, please reach out to [email protected].
